Black Tea is one of the most commonly consumed teas around the world. Black teas are black or dark brown in colour. The naturally occurring tannins in black teas give the rich full flavour and astringency. These teas are also sometimes known as red teas.

Our black teas are processed using the orthodox method done by hand. (Withering, rolling, oxidation, drying, and sorting). Opposed to the shorter process CTC often done mechanically (cutting, tearing, and curling). Black teas are completely oxidised giving them a strong flavour. During the drying process, the leaves are heated to approximately 142°C in ovens until they are about 80% dry and then over wood fires for the last drying process until the leaves are 100% dry.

Some health benefits of black teas may include reduced cholesterol absorption due to their high levels of theaflavins and thearubinins. Black teas are also have the highest caffeine content, ideal for an energy boost.
